University: Chiong or not?

There's been a lot of discussion going around lately about University in general. The bulk of them revolve around this central question:

Is it worth it to slog through University?

Subsets of this discussion include:

Does getting a good result really matter in getting a good in the future?

Do employers really care about your transcript?

Should undergraduates loosen up on grades and do more internships to brighten up their resumes?

For a long while, I've believed that grades were a secondary matter. I've believed that employers look out for portfolios and work experience, especially if the field you are looking at is technical and very specific. After all, a lot of our education now revolves around learning things that, quite frankly, you won't remember in 3-4 months time, not to say in 3-4 years time when you start working. To be more specific, our education system prides itself on academic benchmarks over, well, learning anything at all. But that is another heated debate, and I won't venture to open the box there.

I was wrong. (well, partially)

We know that God has prepared things for us to do in advance, as His workmanship. We know He has asked us to run the good race. But what are these "things", and what is the "race"? Most of the time, we don't know, we have no clue. Furthermore, God in no way expects us to be perfect in all we do. If we could be, we wouldn't need Him in the first place.

So how?

Simple: Take every place where you are at now and make the most of it. Pray constantly that God will guide you, and then go out in faith that every step and move you make is His will. The place and what are you are doing don't matter. What matters is the motivation behind it.

Translate that to the University debate: THEY ALL DON'T MATTER. Don't do what you are doing for grades, for money, etc. Let that not be the objective of anything you do in life. Do it because of faith.

P.S. Yes, that means we have to work hard wherever we are. BUT not at the expense of your health (temple of God) or spiritual life. Prioritize!
