A Day In Your Mobile Life

Your alarm clock on your iPhone dock blares its unwelcoming wake-up call at 5 o'clock sharp in the morning. Groaning, you lean over and turn it off with a careless swipe of your hand. Stumbling over some laundry on the floor, you turn on your computer using the remote access application on your iPhone, and head over to the bathroom for a shower.

As you shower, your computer begins to wirelessly sync with your iPad automatically over iCloud, transferring all your new emails and to-do list for the day over. By the time you're out, everything you need for the day is in your iPad. After a quick change of clothes, you grab your Macbook Air, iPad and iPhone, stuff them into your bag and head out for work.

On the way down to the bus stop, you check your IRIS application on your iPhone for the next bus arrival time – it's coming in 5 minutes time. Good, more than enough time to stroll down. You begin to scroll through your to-do list for the day on your iPhone. After briskly replying 3 emails, you reach the bus stop. 5 minutes has passed, but the bus hasn't arrived yet. Annoyed, you check IRIS again. It cheekily informs you that the next bus is coming in 10 minutes time – you've been tricked, again! Heaving a sigh, you turn your attention back to your emails, but not before you catch a glimpse of an interesting advertisement that promises an amazing discount off a certain fast-food brand if you capture the QR code available on it. Snapping a picture, you tick "where to eat lunch" off your to-do list. Lifting your head, the bus arrives. Muttering something about the accuracy about IRIS, you step on to the bus and tap your EZ-link card.

You settle down in a cosy corner of the bus, and whip out your iPad. But not before your iPhone message tone rings out, calling for your attention – your girlfriend wants to see what you're wearing for work today. You snap a quick picture with the front-side camera of your iPad, and send it to her over WhatsApp. Smiling, you turn your attention back to your emails.

But not before you notice a young boy sleeping in the front row of the bus, with his legs propped up on the seat in front of him, his snores resounding loudly through the upper deck. Annoyed, you snap a picture of him and post it up on your Twitter application on your iPad, with the post: "Youngsters nowadays have no sense of shame at all – check out this boy". Your tweet gets 7 retweets in quick succession, and you can't help but feel a small sense of satisfaction from that.

Now you need to get back to emails. But since you're on Twitter, why not quickly scroll through and check out the latest from your friends? You smirk when you find out that most of your friends spent their night at home, alone and bored, while you were out clubbing at Zouk, courtesy of the online vouchers you swiftly snapped up on a deal website just the day before. Speaking of which, a fairly big incident occurred last night at Zouk, which was covered widely by the media. You switch over to your TODAYonline news application on your iPad and search for the news. Unable to find it, you decide to catch up with the latest news of the day. A technology piece catches your eye – looks like jetpack flight might become a reality soon. Chuckling, you post the link up on your Facebook page, with the comment: "Seems as if public transportation will go out of business soon :P". You stare at your profile page for 5 minutes – no response from the online community to your witty comment. Disappointed, you finally return to your emails.

But by now your eyes are tired. So is your mind, from all the information. You decide to nap instead, and get back to your emails later on while walking to your workplace. Thank goodness for mobility, right?
